Metro: Last Light - Gamegrin Review

Having missed the 2010 release of Metro 2033, I came into this sequel with virgin eyes. Beyond knowing that the game was a post-apocalyptic, first-person shooter, set in - and around - the Russian metro tunnels during the fallout of nuclear war, I didnt know what to expect. Guns? Yeah, guns would be in there, for sure - guns are awesome. I had also heard that the title contained stealth, and that, my friends, is my favourite genre. Stealth is all about staying under the radar and taking people by surprise. So bravo, Metro: Last Light, you were never on my radar, and now my face is stuck in a perpetual state of shock and you have me in a chokehold. This isnt stealth from the Metal Gear Solid - hide behind stuff - school of thought, though. This is Stealth 101 through the eyes of Sam Fisher - which makes a change from staring at them inside his hollow head because you were too close to a wall. In Metro: Last Light, darkness is your ally.

Personally, i love a dark post-apocalyptic future story line, cant speak for all you players out there and ill admit I never played the previous game actually before the announcement of Metro: Last Light, i didnt even know of its existence but after seeing some footage and promotional content i asked one of our EG brothers to fill me up about it. So, its a sequel to metro 2033 also before that a novel by Dmitry Glukhovsky and this sequel isnt based on any specific work. So perhaps like me you missed Metro 2033? Still that wont be an obstacle for us and neither should it to you, then why deny ourselves of a seemingly interesting FPS single-player story line? And lets pray it never happens for real.

LazyGamer: "Even though you're regularly thrust out of control, it's an experience that highlights the panicked and desperate survival of post-apocalyptia."
